Are Men and Women really Equal?

I have been having this thought battle in my head for a long time and now I am finally penning it down.

I am indeed all for equality.

BUT, sometimes I really wonder if men and women are indeed equal!

Should they be treated equally?

I mean, I know the world is getting a lot into gender equality these days and I am just sitting here staggering over how the world could ever even think of oppressing women.

For anything, I wonder if women should be treated better than men!!

I know, that’s not equality and that’s why I said I wonder!

Why I wonder or sometimes feel that women should be treated better is probably because I have seen a Woman’s life up, close and personal so far.

Literally, her struggle begins the moment she is born, sometimes even before she is born!

Many parts of the world, mourn over girl childbirth!

The heart breaks for the girl babies that are thrown into the garbage, killed before/after birth.

And wait, that’s somehow not even the worst part.

Do you know what it is?

My heart doesn’t break this time but instead my entire conscious find my existence extremely and completely revolting when I hear that a 3-month baby, a 6-month baby was raped!!!!!!

I mean, are you kidding me? Her vagina is not even developed yet! What was he trying to put it into???

But still, he tries to do things to her, why? Because it is a Girl, a would-be woman!

This is probably the worst thing, I mean ask any woman, she might prefer dying over being raped. Even if all the women aren’t actually raped, can you believe how many of them are ogled at every single day?

A girl is probably never a baby, a kid, or a teenager, I think she is in some people’s eyes, always a woman.

That’s why incidents happen with kid girls, in this the world which is definitely not a safe place. There are many cabbies, drivers, watchmen, uncles, peons, teachers, doctors who would touch these girls of all ages inappropriately.

Sometimes she could even be touched and played with, in such a friendly manner that she wouldn’t even realize what is happening with her in reality.

Women live all their life, till they die, with these scars! These horrible and ever so vivid haunting memories of incidents that happen to them on and off.

She probably gets ogled every day on her way to work/school, at work/school. Can you imagine how difficult it is at times to forget that stare, that feeling that crawls on every piece of our skin and reaches our heart and makes us feel like we are choking?

Sometimes she works all day with that choked heart but count on me when I say it’s not easy.

Okay so there is that, then there is menstruation!

Not saying it’s unfair or anything but just trying to highlight that it’s hard!

Physically and mentally!

Imagine she is merely 12–13 and she starts facing the horror every month!! It is painful and no matter how cool the sanitary napkin ads make it look, periods are HARD!

And guess what, it’s not really a blessing when the menstruation stops! Women suffer a lot in the menopause stage too again, both physically and mentally. It is known to cause depression, heavy mood swings, women are more prone to cardiovascular diseases after menopause and the list goes on.

Of course, there is also the pregnancy and nursing! Man, that’s hard! Yeah, motherhood is a blessing according to women themselves but dude, nature designed her neural network to look at it as a blessing, doesn’t mean it’s easy! Are women doing a lot for humanity in general? Hell yeah!

Then there are some brave-hearts who manage to balance both work and home but you know what? She gets lesser remuneration even after all that. Why? Because she is a woman! And a lot of gender equality protests and agendas are about demanding equal pay, but again there is this thought in my head, provided she is equally talented, should she be paid more?

Then there is another thought saying it’s not fair. It is never fair to treat one fairer than the other but rather we should develop an environment that organically blends equality.

So I guess I am not trying to say women should be treated above men but they certainly deserve to be treated ‘better’ by a humongous factor.

Her life is indeed hard, let’s not try to make it harder.

The least you could do is, Be fair and be considerate to her!
